Traveling to and from Decatur

If you're flying into Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, it's easiest to get to Decatur by rail. Wedding-related activities, the hotel, and the MARTA station are within two blocks of each other.

MARTA has a rail station inside of the airport. A round trip ticket to and from Decatur is $6. The wedding venue is located directly above the train station, and the hotel is one and a half blocks to the north. The rehearsal dinner is a few steps from the station entrance.

Any train leaving from the airport (Red or Gold Lines) will take you north to the Five Points Station. Exit there and head upstairs to the Eastbound Platform. Ride the train that says "Indian Creek" (that's the Blue Line) six stops to the Decatur Station. Here's a printable .pdf map.

Taxis are expensive and not always easy to find in Atlanta. You'll be able to grab one without a problem at the airport, but once in Decatur you'll either need to hang out at the intersection of Church and Sycamore or call Decatur's Best Taxi: 404-289-6603

Uber is a fun car service that's new to Atlanta. If you're comfortable with a smart phone, you might consider Uber. It's generally more convenient than a cab, but also a little more expensive (and in Atlanta cabs are already expensive).

If you'd like to rent a car, there's a large rental car facility at the airport, complete with its own people mover. There are also rental car retail locations downtown within an easy walk of MARTA if you'd like to save a few dollars.

Parking for the wedding is around the corner in the parking deck at the corner of Commerce Drive and Trinity Place. It's free on the weekends. There's a path from the north side of the deck to the Old County Courthouse. If you're staying at the Decatur Courtyard Marriott, park at the hotel. It's only a block from the wedding venue.

Directions from the South, including the airport: head toward downtown Atlanta via 75/85. Exit at 248C: Freedom Parkway. Ride that until it dead-ends into Ponce de Leon. Take a right on Ponce, drive three miles, and follow the signs to Downtown Decatur. You should see signs for the Old County Courthouse and the Courtyard Marriott.

From the East: get to I-285 and exit at 39A: Hwy 78 West toward Decatur. Ride that for a few miles until Clairemont Avenue. Take a left onto Clairemont. The Courtyard Marriott will be on your right in a mile or so. The Old County Courthouse will be at the end of the street.
